Join our Faith Community Council
Although Asylum Pride House is not religiously affiliated, we believe some of the strongest community supporters can come from religious groups. A recent study from 2020 showed that out of 308 surveyed LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, only 6% cited any support from religious communities. We do not believe this is reflective of religious organizations’ desire to serve the LGBTQ+ asylum seeker community and want to give you the opportunity to be a part of changing this statistic.
As part of our volunteer structure, Asylum Pride House is looking to develop a Faith Community Council, which would be open to any individuals part of a religious community group who want to participate in:
Using their individual skills and talents (creativity, fundraising, organizing, etc.) to support our mission in serving LGBTQ+ asylum seekers
Sharing community resources and ideas for housing opportunities
Meaningful dialogue on migration topics impacting LGBTQ+ asylum seekers
